Details:

A 23 year old female who is 9 months pregnant reported to police that she and her 24 year old boyfriend were having as argument most of the day on Sunday. In the afternoon, the verbal argument became physical with the male assaulting the female. The male suspect subsequently turned himself into police and was charged with one count of assault. He will appear in court on Dec21st, 2009. The female was not injured.

Details:

On the 15th of November 2009 the Barrie Police responded to a Domestic Assault on Perry Street in the City of Barrie. While investigating the Domestic Assault, the officers uncovered a small hydroponic marihuana grow operation within the residence. As a result, the Drug Enforcement Unit was called in to assist with the new investigation.

A search warrant was obtained for the residence and executed a short time later. During the search, 28 Cannabis marihuana plants as well as harvested marihuana was located. A quantity of growing equipment was also seized.

A 32 yr old male has been charged with a number of drug related offences as well as two counts of Assault and was held for a bail hearing. The investigation is continuing in relation to other persons involved with the indoor grow.

The total street value of the drugs seized is approximately $18,100.00.

Police would like to remind the residents of Barrie that if they observe suspicious activities at a house or business that they feel may be drug trafficking to call the Barrie Police Drug Enforcement Unit or Crime Stoppers.
