***************************************

At approximately 11:00PM on Monday, January 16th, 2012, a 64-year-old woman from Phelpston was attempting to deposit money into her bank account at the ATM at TD Bank on Bayfield Street North in Barrie.

An unknown male approached the woman and demanded that she hand over her deposit envelope. The man brandished a 7-8” long knife and held it close to the woman’s face. The woman complied with the demand and handed over the envelope which contained an undisclosed amount of money. The man then asked for the woman’s bank card PIN at which point she informed him that she had no more money in her account. The man then left the bank and headed towards the rear parking lot. The woman returned to her car, uninjured, and called 911.

Police attended the area and officers commenced a K9 track. The K9 track led officers from the TD Bank to the parking lot of 225 Kozlov Street where the track ended and the suspect was not located.

The suspect is described as:

Male, possibly white, age unknown, 5'6"-5'7", thin to medium build, 160 lbs. wearing black baggy pants, black sweatshirt (hoody), black gloves, black and white running shoes, black backpack, white linen balaclava with holes cut for eyes and mouth. Carrying a 7-8” silver butcher knife.

This investigation is continuing and anyone with information in regards to this incident and/or suspect is asked to contact Detective Read, 705-725-7025 ext 2124 or call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS.
