Barrie Police Service Patch

The Barrie Police originated in 1853 with the appointment of Joseph Rogers as Chief Constable and continues today as the second oldest police service in Ontario. The City of Barrie is one of the fastest growing cities in Canada and is situated on the shores of beautiful Kempenfelt Bay on Lake Simcoe.

The badge of the Barrie Police Service is bordered in red and contains a masonry crown representing civic authority. On the crown are two wavy blue lines alluding to Barrie's location on the lake, these are set over five interlacing gold lines representing the five major provincial highways that intersect in Barrie.

The Barrie Police Service in partnership with the community is dedicated to serving the citizens of Barrie with the highest levels of professionalism and integrity.

Police Bike Patrol

Fuji and Smith & Wesson mountain bikes equipped with flashing lights and sirens are used in a variety of community policing areas including patrolling the downtown core, bike paths, city beaches and parks.

Officers from the Community Services Unit assume the role of mountain bike patrol officers throughout our community during the summer months. This ensures an interactive and proactive enforcement model with the citizens of Barrie.

Crime Prevention

Officers provide knowledgeable information for commercial and residential security issues through presentations in the community. Need some advice? An officer is a phone call away. Block Parents, Citizens On Patrol, Neighbourhood Watch are volunteer programs that partner with the Barrie Police Service providing valuable ears and eyes throughout the city.

If you wish to join any of these programs, please call our unit at (705) 725-7025 ext 2926 or 2903.

Police Boats

Two fully equipped and operational police boats patrol Kempenfelt Bay and Lake Simcoe full time during the summer months and selective weekends during the spring & fall.

Trained marine officers answer distress calls, perform search and rescue operations, provide enforcement of all boating regulations and provide general safety, equipment and boating information.
