UPDATE: (07NOV2008 - 1400hrs)
Today investigators of the Barrie Police Major Crime Unit conducted a search warrant at 286 Bayview Drive (Faurecia Auto Seating) in attempt to obtain further evidence relating to the Flanagan investigation.
The search warrant was conducted in relation to an employee of Faurecia Auto seating that is a person of interest in the investigation.
A person of interest is someone that has connection to the investigation but there is no evidence linking them to the crime.

UPDATE (21APR2008 - 11:00hrs)
Barrie Police Major Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP will be conducting further searches for evidence in relation to the Flanagan investigation and found remains in the area of the walking path between Johnston’s Beach and Penetanguishine Road.
Investigators had conducted thorough searches of the area during the initial period of time when the remains were located, but know that the snow has melted, investigators will be conducting another search of the area in attempt to locate any further evidence.
The search is expected to last throughout today and conclude sometime late this afternoon.

UPDATE (15FEB2008 - 14:00hrs)
As a result of a post mortem and expert examination of human remains seized, it was determined that the remains located on the pedestrian / bike pathway east of Johnsons Beach were that of Alexandra FLANAGAN (33yrs of age), who was reported missing from Barrie on July 9th, 2007.
The cause of death has still not been determined and requires further investigation and examination.
Based on the location and condition of the human remains, Barrie Police are continuing to treat the investigation as suspected foul play.
The police would request the assistance of the public with any information they may have, concerning suspicious activity in the area of the public trail system between Johnson Beach and Penetanguishene Road over the past 6 months.

Barrie Police had concluded the search of the Rose Street residence in relation to the Flanagan investigation. The residence was turned back over to the occupant(s) of the apartment late this afternoon.
Investigators will not be releasing any information or details of the search warrant at this time.
The Barrie Police Major Crime Unit is continuing to actively investigate this matter and urge that if the public has any information that could assist with the investigation to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 or the Barrie Police Major Crime Tip Line at (705) 725-7025 #2160.

Barrie Police are currently executing a search warrant at a residence on Rose Street in relation to the Flanagan investigation.
The search warrant was obtained after the investigation lead police to believe that there could be potential evidence related to Flanagan’s disappearance within the residence.
There have been no arrests in relation to the search warrant and occupants at the residence (which multi unit structure) have been cooperative with police investigators.
Major Crime investigators and forensic officers are expected to be on scene for a number of days conducting a search in relation to the investigation.

Investigators are conducting further searches in attempt to locate evidence in relation to this investigation.

On October 04, 2007 at approximately 12:00pm, Barrie Police responded to a call in the area of Lackie’s Bush, adjacent to Bristow Court, regarding found skeletal remains.
Initial officers that attended the scene determined that a female walking her dog on the afternoon of October 4th, 2007 in Lackie’s Bush, located the remains which appeared to be human. The area was immediately secured and contained and an investigation was commenced.
Barrie Police Service Major Crime Unit investigators obtained the assistance of the Chief Coroner’s office to determine if the remains were animal or human.
On the evening of October 4th, 2007 a forensic anthropologist attended the scene and confirmed that the remains located were human.
Throughout the weekend of October 5th to 8th, 2007, investigators continued to canvass neighbourhoods surrounding the area, while Barrie Police Emergency Services Unit officers, OPP - K9 officers and members of the Chief Coroner’s office conducted ground searches in Lackie’s Bush in attempt to locate further remains and evidence.
As a result of the searches conducted through the weekend, further human remains were located within Lackie’s Bush and were sent to the Centre of Forensic Sciences in Toronto for post mortem examination.
On Tuesday October 9th, 2007 a post mortem was conducted and as result it was determined through dental records that remains that were that of Alexandra FLANAGAN (33yrs of age), who was reported missing from Barrie on July 9th, 2007. The cause of death was not ascertained in the post mortem examination and is pending after further investigation.
Based on the location and condition of the human remains, Barrie Police are continuing to treat the investigation as suspected foul play.

Ground Search for Evidence - Barrie Police Service conducted an evidence search in Sunnidale Park today in relation to the ongoing Alexandra Flanagan homicide investigation. Officers from the Emergency Support Unit conducted a ground evidence search in an area of Sunnidale Park off of Coulter Street. The search commenced at 9:30am and lasted for approximately 3 hours. No roadways or pathways were closed during this time.
Major Crime Investigators are not releasing results of this evidence search.

UPDATE: (25OCT2011 - 14:40hrs)
The Barrie Police and the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit have concluded the evidence search in Kempenfelt Bay. The walking path has opened for pedestrian use and boaters are free to use the area again. The Barrie Police would like to thank the public for their co-operation by keeping a safe distance away from the divers during this search.
Results of this evidentiary search will not be released.

Marine Police Evidence Search
Barrie Police and the Ontario Provincial Police Underwater Search and Recovery Unit will be conducting an evidence search pertaining to the ongoing Flanagan homicide investigation. This water search will be conducted in Kempenfelt Bay, in the area of Kempenfelt Drive and Nelson Square. The search will commence in the afternoon on Monday, October 24th, and continue for an unspecified period of time.
For the safety of the divers, Barrie Police is asking boaters to remain a minimum of 200 metres away from any police boats they observe in the area.

Barrie Police report that the charges laid agaisnt Andrew Keene, 29 years of age, of Innisfil Ontario are 1st Degree Murder and Indignity to a Dead Body of Alexandra Flanagan.
Mr. Keene has been remanded into custody and will appear again in court, via video, on November 2nd, 2011.

Arrest Made Today in 2007 Flanagan Homicide Case
Barrie Police Service has arrested and charged an Innisfil man in relation to the 2007 Flanagan homicide.
Andrew Keene, 29 years of age, was arrested today and has been charged with the murder of Alexandra Flanagan. He is expected to attend a bail hearing tomorrow, Oct 21st, 2011.
The area around Bayfield Street and Hwy 400 has been closed off for an evidence search in relation to this matter. This search is ongoing and the area will remain closed.
A press conference will be held at the Barrie Police Service, 29 Sperling Drive, Barrie at 9:00am on Friday, October 21st, 2011. Major Crime Investigators will be present for this conference and will field questions from the media at that time.
The Flanagan family has been notified of this arrest and they have requested that members of the media respect their privacy at this time. It is expected that the members of the family will be in attendance at the press conference tomorrow.

Road Closures For Police Evidence Search
Barrie Police Service will be conducting an evidence search for an ongoing criminal investigation in the area of Bayfield Street and Highway 400 which will affect traffic and pedestrian flow today and possibly for the next 3 days.
The areas affected include:
*Rose Street will be closed west of Peel Street.
*No vehicle access to Highway 400 Northbound/Rose Street from Bayfield Street.
*Left turning lane on Bayfield Street southbound at Highway 400/Rose Street will be closed.
A further media advisory will be issued later today in regards to this investigation.
